NCSP Online Network for Second National Communications From Non-Annex I Parties to UNFCCC

About

The NCSP Knowledge Network is designed to assist V&A experts working on SNCs and national SNC coordinators. The online learning facility aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, data and information exchanges, and relate best practices with lessons learned. Below are some of the tools the Network offers to achieve these objectives:

 1. The Resource Centre

 The resource center contains a wealth of literature, software packages with their user manuals, and data sources on assessing impacts of vulnerability and adaptation to climate change which has been collated and made available for download/browse.

The resource centre has a section containing general documents on V&A, including papers on international policy issues related to adaptation to climate change.  It contains sections with material on key topics related to V&A assessments:

  • Overall methodological frameworks;
  • Climate scenarios;
  • Socio-economic scenarios;

on main socio-economic sectors and systems:

  • Agriculture and food security;
  • Water resources;
  • Coastal zone;
  • Ecosystems and forestry;
  • Human health;
  • Human settlement and industry;
  • Tourism.

And NAI country regions:

  • Africa;
  • Asia;
  • Latin America;
  • Small Island Developing States (SIDs)

2. A moderated mailing list

Members can initiate and contribute to online discussions on any V&A issues with fellow members from NAI countries as well as a selection of experts from AI countries.

3. An expert directory

The NCSP maintains a Roster of Experts who expressed interest in assisting NAI countries either as consultants to work in-country with NAI experts, resource persons at NCSP technical training workshops, experts to undertake technical review of SNC drafts, or simply as interested individual to participate in any discussions on the KN. With the permission of the experts, national SNC coordinators and/or V&A team leaders can access the CVs of the experts on the Roster. This is to facilitate the identification and selection of consultants.
